We have 5 double B&B rooms in the Mill itself and two self-contained holiday cottages in the converted barn. Kingfisher Cottage sleeps two in a galleried bedroom with a downstairs bathroom. The bedroom overlooks the mill pond. Swallow Cottage sleeps 4 in two double bedrooms each with en-suite shower rooms. The bedrooms face south and overlook the Cottage's own garden area.
During 2009 the Mill was completely refurbished. Two completely new bedroom suites were built on the first floor at the back of the Mill overlooking the mill-pond. These have floor to ceiling glazing affording spectacular views eastwards down stream. Both bedrooms have wet-room bathroom facilities and underfloor heating.
Our top floor rooms have been re-decorated, re-carpeted and have new bathroom facilities incorporating electric under-floor heating. One has a wet-room the other two have new showers and enclosures. All rooms have views westwards over the river and either southerly views over fields or northerly views over the gardens.
Our dining facilities have been moved to take advantage of the morning sun. This is another area of floor-to-ceiling glazing with great views down stream. We normally serve meals on a large table that seats ten comfortably. However, for guests wishing more privacy we can serve breakfast in the sitting room at a table seating four.
When open the main sitting room downstairs with its inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove is available for guest use. It has a range of comfortable chairs and settees together with a library of reference books, maps and novels for guests to browse.
The most important meal of the day. We serve a selection of cereals with additional nuts and dried fruit, fresh fruit (raspberries from the garden when in season), fruit juice and the full English breakfast with a choice of tea, fresh coffee and toast. Bacon, sausages and eggs are sourced locally. Tomatoes are either from the garden or local greengrocer. Although nominally a “fry-up” for health reasons we tend to grill the tomatoes, sausages and bacon and fry the eggs in olive oil. We also offer cholesterol-lowering spreads as well as butter and soya milk for those who are lactose intolerant. Our breakfast which also include mushrooms and black pudding can last you until tea-time.
We serve the cooked breakfast at your choice of time between 8.00 and 10.00am. As we cook to order we like to know when you will be coming down and what you would like to eat so we can start your meal in readiness. For those requiring an early start we can provide you with cereal, tea and coffee, preserves and bread for toasting.
